Run Without Pain

Stop Knee Pain

"You may be more prone to knee injuries when you’re ovulating, the British Journal of Sports Medicine reports.

Researchers measured movement of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which supports the knee, and found that it's generally loosest during ovulation (usually between days 11 and 21 of your cycle).

High estrogen levels during that time decrease the amount of collagen in the ligament, explains study supervisor Darren Stefanyshyn, Ph.D., of the University of Calgary.

That can make it harder to protect the joint against sudden movements, Stefanyshyn says. Birth-control-pill users have lower estrogen levels―and about half as many ACL injuries."
