Biotin the Miracle Vitamin

After years of wearing acrylic nails I decided to break them all off and start growing out my nails so I could have nice natural nails. Well this was quite the process for me, every time I would get them just about the length I wanted them they would start chipping and breaking. So then I would have to file them all down and start over. This was becoming a real pain...so I went to my sister Krista who was just finishing up Cosmetology school at the time and she started telling me about a vitamin they learned all about in school.
The vitamin is called Biotin and it helps with the growth of hair and nails. I figured I would try it out it only cost a few dollars and it was carried at all the local drug stores and even Target, and Walmart. After a few weeks I really started noticing a difference not only with my nails but my hair too!!

I now have been religiously taking Biotin supplements since that day and I have to say my nails and hair grow like CRAZY! My nails are stronger than ever and my hair is actually thicker than it has ever been before too! I have been telling my friends about this vitamin for a while now so for those of you I have already informed if you haven't bought it already... do it now. But for anyone else that Krista or myself haven't told yet I just wanted to spread the word. And NO I am not selling this vitamin I just really love it!

For those of you who always forget to take their vitamins one thing that has helped me remember is to keep the bottle in my desk drawer at work and take my vitamins right after lunch.

Chew up to Stress Down

I found this in the January issue of Women's Health Magazine.

Chewing gum can reduce stress and improve performance. People who chomped during a mild stress test had 16 percent less of the hormone cortisol than those who took the test gum-free. Their attention and memory scores also increased. Chewing boosts blood flow to the jaw and perhaps the brain. Added oxygen may boost mental sharpness, and if you're on top of your game, you'll feel less stressed, says Andrew Scholey, Ph.D., of Swinburne University of Technology.

Relieve Cold Symptoms

I came across these tips to help relieve cold symptoms in January's issue of Fitness magazine.
Since it is prime cold season I thought this could help a few of us out. Let me know if you try any of these and how they work out for you :)

Soothe a sore throat with Zinc lozenges.
Zinc stimulates the activity of immune cells and can prevent viruses from infecting them." says Lise Alschuler, president of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. She recommends taking a lozenge about every two hours, depending on the zinc content. "The dose should never exceed 150 milligrams a day, because too much zinc can impair immune function."

Unplug ears by gargling with salt water
"There is a connection at the back of the throat to the inner ear, which is why gargling can help," says Mark Moyad M.D., author of Dr. Moyad's No BS Health Advise.
"Salt is an anti-inflammatory, and it can relieve the swelling that's causing the stuffed-up feeling in your ears."
To Do: Mix one teaspoon of salt in four to eight ounces of warm water; gargle as needed.

Stop coughs with honey
Coughing is the body's way of cleaning the upper chest and throat and ideally shouldn't be suppressed. But when it's keeping you up at night or is dry and spasmodic, two teaspoons of honey will help. "It works in three ways - it soothes the throat, it contains a compound that blocks the cough reflex in the brain, and its acidity kills bugs," Dr. Moyad says. When shopping for honey remember that the darker the color is, the more effective it is.

Welcome!

Hello!

So since my mind runs a mile a minute I have decided to start my own blog to share beauty tips, health tips, relationship tips, and pretty much everything else that may be running through my crazy mind!

I spend a lot of time reading magazines and articles online and have found many interesting things along the way and I thought it would be a good idea to start sharing them with all of you.

My game plan here is every time I come across a new topic of interest I will post it on my blog for all of you to view, you will even be able to comment on the topics and if you have a topic you would like to discuss you can email it to me and I can post it on here for everyone else to see.

So hopefully this will work out to be a success and we can all walk away with some great info :)

So here it goes wish me luck!!!
